20100212 – Latest UFO Report, Durban
Whilst driving to work with my husband, we saw what seemed to be an aero plane in the sky over Isipingo/Mobeni area this morning at about 8.40am.
The unusal thing was that its direction was as if it took off from the airport, but it was not on the usual course. It was also flying too low and not attempting to gain altitude. There was one bright whitish light on its under belly that was not constantly blinking (was on then off for a while). Its shape was very much like a passenger plane – cylindrical with a nose.
At some point it was virtually standing still then it seemed to drop. I lost sight of it once we got onto South Coast Road. Further onto the Southern Freeway (over Umbilo/Glenwwod) I saw it again travelling parallel to us. It looked like a long, flat aeroplane, but without noise, smoke or lights.
It then somehow started going backwards and disappeared inland.
Some 15 minutes later getting into town, I saw it over the bay area (Point/ Maydon wharf) coming in from over the water toward the city, but then it dropped and I lost sight of it because of the buildings. I got out into the street outside my office building as I has a clearer view and saw it the last time- coming in again from over the water and into the city. My husband who was with me all the time told me to get out the cellphone camera but by that time it has disappeared behind a building. I ran to the other end, camera in hand, but it never emerged.
I am not a UFO fanatic, but neither am I a skeptic – just want some clarity on what we saw this morning. Am just so glad my husband was there else this would sound really unbelievable!

UPDATE on Mass UFO Sighting
The evidence has come in that the cause of the spectacular sighting in South Africa’s skies on Sunday night the 18th of October 2009, was indeed a rocket dumping fuel after the launch of a satellite in lower Earth orbit more than 800kms above the planet. I am putting together the information with photographs and will post it here later. BIG disappointment for us who saw it, nonetheless, it was still the MOST beautiful sighting i’ve ever had. Also, i want to add that this was a GREAT example to show that there are SOOO MANY South Africans who were watching the skies and hopefully more and more people will do so for when other real UFO sightings occur. Latest Mass UFO Sighting in South Africa
PRESS RELEASE – SAUFOR – 20091019
Last night, 18 October 2009, a strange and beautiful phenomenon was seen in the skies over South Africa. What is interesting to note is that witnesses from areas as wide apart as Cape Town and Johannesburg and many other areas, reported it around the same time, which was between 20:45 and 21:00.
As Founder of South Africa’s UFO Resource (SAUFOR) I have been researching UFO sightings since 1997, and was fortunate to have witnessed this sighting myself with 5 friends. Our location was at Scarborough, Cape Town and we had an excellent view of this phenomenon from when it was first seen rising over the horizon in the South. We observed it for about 10 minutes and had an exceptionally clear view, as there were no Moon and no clouds. At first we thought that it was the Pleiades star cluster, but then we noticed that there was definitely movement inside this “cloud”.. This movement included what appeared to be spiral-like arms moving outwards from the centre. As this phenomenon moved across the sky basically over our heads, we saw that there was a very bright white light in the centre, which dissolved into 6 or 7 smaller rotating lights, which then dissolved into what looked like rings or ripples, as if when throwing a stone into a pond.. This pattern repeated itself every 30-45 seconds with the concentric rings constantly expanding..
We were absolutely in awe of what we saw. I have never seen anything like this before. Judging by the physical distance between all the witnesses, this phenomenon had to be very high and very big to be seen simultaneously from so many varied areas. In fact, it is possible that whatever this was, may have been outside of Earth’s atmosphere.
It moved in a perfectly straight trajectory and at a constant speed, which makes me think that it was going all around our planet. Numerous witnesses, including myself, attempted to take photographs and video footage, but thus far none were successful.
The Johannesburg planetarium has been inundated with people reporting what they saw and their best explanation is that it was probably a satellite that exploded. I do not agree. We are collecting reports from as many individuals as possible and consider this one of the most significant UFO sightings in South Africa’s history. Thank you for keeping your eyes on the sky.

Latest UFO sighting in South Africa
Phenomenon observed in the night sky in Cape Town, South Africa by 5 friends and myself (Cristo Louw, Founder of South Africa’s UFO Resource – SAUFOR) at 20:50 last night (20091018) for about 10 minutes. Bright white light split into 6 or 7 rotating lights which dissolved into expanding rings or ripples.. Then bright light appeared in center and whole sequence repeated.. It had a satellite-like trajectory, from South to North, so im thinking it went all around Earth.. Investigation under way..
