PRESS RELEASE – SAUFOR – 20091019
Last night, 18 October 2009, a strange and beautiful phenomenon was seen in the skies over South Africa. What is interesting to note is that witnesses from areas as wide apart as Cape Town and Johannesburg and many other areas, reported it around the same time, which was between 20:45 and 21:00.
As Founder of South Africa’s UFO Resource (SAUFOR) I have been researching UFO sightings since 1997, and was fortunate to have witnessed this sighting myself with 5 friends. Our location was at Scarborough, Cape Town and we had an excellent view of this phenomenon from when it was first seen rising over the horizon in the South. We observed it for about 10 minutes and had an exceptionally clear view, as there were no Moon and no clouds. At first we thought that it was the Pleiades star cluster, but then we noticed that there was definitely movement inside this “cloud”.. This movement included what appeared to be spiral-like arms moving outwards from the centre. As this phenomenon moved across the sky basically over our heads, we saw that there was a very bright white light in the centre, which dissolved into 6 or 7 smaller rotating lights, which then dissolved into what looked like rings or ripples, as if when throwing a stone into a pond.. This pattern repeated itself every 30-45 seconds with the concentric rings constantly expanding..
We were absolutely in awe of what we saw. I have never seen anything like this before. Judging by the physical distance between all the witnesses, this phenomenon had to be very high and very big to be seen simultaneously from so many varied areas. In fact, it is possible that whatever this was, may have been outside of Earth’s atmosphere.
It moved in a perfectly straight trajectory and at a constant speed, which makes me think that it was going all around our planet. Numerous witnesses, including myself, attempted to take photographs and video footage, but thus far none were successful.
The Johannesburg planetarium has been inundated with people reporting what they saw and their best explanation is that it was probably a satellite that exploded. I do not agree. We are collecting reports from as many individuals as possible and consider this one of the most significant UFO sightings in South Africa’s history. Thank you for keeping your eyes on the sky.

In 1977/78 during the summer a couple of policewoman and men living in the barracks saw during the day at 18h00 a bright light of a round nature moving
forward and backwards at tremendous speed in the sky. The same time a professor of the Natal University looked through his window of is office and saw the same thing. It was a Sunday. The next morning it was reported in The Natal Witness.
This object could not have been a weather balloon or a any other explained flying machine. Not of this world at any rate. I was one of the policewoman that day.
Hi, this is so shocking. A couple of years ago, I think about 4 years ago, I saw something similar. I live in a block of flats in Wynber, Cape Town and have a view of the mountain from the balcony. It was dark, about 8 or 9:30pm, I looked up and there in front of me were these lights. It was really weird, there were white, lights mainly, blue and they seemed so very close and were large…but there was no noise. It seemed so very very close, I was so suprised, I listened to hear if it was not maybe a cluster of very large unusual helicopters or such but they just hovered there in silence. I knew they were attached to something, like a huge helicopter but could only see these lights, you could ot see an object. They were far apart and also made circles around some of them, asif throwing a pebble in the water, there were no other strange sphere shapes I noticed though. It hovered like that for about 10minute, silently and without movement, it then started moving away. It never went up or down at first, it travelled left towards plumstead, tokai and so forth and I kept my eye on it till I saw it disappear behind the mountain to my left (infront o me), going towards cape point, it then disapeared over the mountain. Till today I am baffled with this. My husband is a sceptic, a few people saw this & the next day my husband told me that he heard the airforce said they were doing night flights and testing out aircraft & this is what the public saw. I know that whatever it was it was something not known to me, it was really amazing. You know when u are seeing something which is unusual, believe me, this was no airforce testing anything. Why do they cover these things up? Why do you think? I wish I had the answers to what and who I saw that night. Please email me if you have sen the same sighting o if you have an explanation. My sis and I saw a similar and bizzare…well “star/satelite” at 11pm. First it appeared as what we believed were stars…then they began (more arrived) to not twinkle or do the normal things I see in night time scenes of the earth and understanding of planets and stars. They then “blinked/twinkled” faster and slower…Then at intervals! I could easily take pics of stars but these unusual “objects” I simply, well …I couldn’t! But I persisted! And later got 3 bright orange lights …what is weird is that is that many more “stars” appeared and, from what I believe were communicating! I saw all this from North JHB in the suburb Norwood…it was East and near O.R International…Real stuff! No jokes!!…Bizzare!
Hi, I live in scottburgh of the coast of Natal and i think i saw a ufo. it had 2 yellow lights at the bottom and a red light at the top almost an “L” shaped thing. after calling 1023 to find out who i could contact, the lights were gone. The object was over the see during an electrical storm. so there were a lot of clouds and darkness so the lights were really bright.
Im frm sherwood park in capetown On 27th november 2010 at abt past 12 midnight me nd my cuz came frm walking a freind away home on our way back we saw sumthing wierd in the sky and it stood dead stil between the clouds with a red light flashing frm left to right like nightriders car… Plains move that thing just stood their

i have a hi -res photo of mountain bike training and in this photo is strange object in sky, what do i do with it?
we took it over the week end
on the 28th february at 12am i saw a ufo spacecraft traveling at a high speed and stopping dead, it then hovered and started doing weird moves, sharp angles circular motion, up and down and zig zag turns.. i was quite large and was a hexagon shape with bright lighs.. this went on for 35min and moved south east at about a 45 degree angle and disapeared.. i have never seen anything like this before.. is there anyone here that has seen somthing similar or the same..
Wat ek wil weet Christo is of julle toevallig daar was of het julle spesifiek daar rond gewees in die hoop om iets dalk waar te neem?Ons probleem is dat ons te min op kyk na die lugruim in die nag en so dalk voorwerpe mis wat dalk oor kom.Dis ook beter as daar ‘n paar mense saam is wat in alle rigtings kan kyk.Het darem nou ‘n vêrkyker nie baie sterk nie maar dis beter as die blote oog.
